This month I'm either working or pretending to work on three things:
Crystals and Moonlight: In the battle between two factions of the ascended former inhabitants of an alien planet, the human settlers are given the 'Silver Divine', a girl with the power to save her people from genocide.
How to Nuke Your Enemies: A scientist plants nuclear weapons in a series of volcanoes and a special ops team is sent out to stop the detonation.
Broken Mirror: A mercenary and the last of the Imperial Cyborg Knights team up to find the missing heir to the throne and restore order to the Empire. This is a second draft of my JulNo project.
So far I've done 15k of a planned 50k on C+M, nothing on BM and a bit of planning for H2NYE. This isn't looking like one of the good months. I'm hopeful that I'll be able to turn things around in the second half, though, and get stuck into all three projects so that I'm in a reasonable spot come September, when I'll be working on all three again for SeptNo.
Anyway, more about all three projects later, I guess...

August is not my friend. First I had a migraine, then I picked up a flu bug and now spring has decided to come a little early, so the wattle trees are flowering and I have hayfever. Sneezing and blowing my nose constantly does not help me write.
Really? I wonder why? /sarcasm

Yeah. I'm so feeling the sarcasm!
I'm sorry! Think positive, somehow. Make one of your characters suffer what you are suffering. After all, it's fresh and completely easy to describe right now, right?
Get better!

Now contemplating which character should have hayfever...

Ugh. I just started the flu. I'm picking a character right now. Maybe one of my evil characters will start vomiting violently after 'testing' some of the poisoned something-or-another. Just before he or she falls dead on the floor.
That's about how I feel. Dead on the floor.
Now to pick the character.

Hmm... what's the date? Okay, it's the 17th. I kind of need to make a statement of exactly where I am this month in the hope of fixing it somehow, so here's the list:
1) Crystals and Moonlight Done: 18,574 of 50,000 (37%) To go: 31,426 (63%)
2) How to Nuke Your Enemies Done: 00,740 of 15,000 (5%) To go: 14,260 (95%)
3) Broken Mirror Done: 01,145 of 15,000 (8%) To go: 13,855 (92%)
To write all this by the end of the month, I need...
2096+951+924=3971 words per day.
I can do that. That's the thing I really hate about this month. I actually can reliably write that much in a day. Especially since Broken Mirror is actually a rewrite, so I should be able to write it as fast as I wrote Dark Star during June. August just doesn't seem to be one of the good months, though. Oh, well... at least I know exactly what I need to do. Getting close is better than not even trying, right?

That does seem like a lot per day. Good luck! You can do it.

I'm just writing one post and copying it to every site where I think people might be interested in my progress, so if you've already read this somewhere else go ahead and skip to somewhere more interesting...
Basically, things in the dairy are just starting to get really busy. Right now it's the beginning of spring, which means my daily duties consist of milking a couple of goats in the evening and checking on the 'about to give birth' goats every three hours. That part lasts 24 hours a day, 7 days a week until november some time and every goat that gives birth gets added to the milking roster. By the end of November we'll be milking around 50 goats twice a day and feeding at least that many youngsters.
(and nobody was really that curious about goat dairying, so moving on...)
I think once the new sleep pattern settles in I'll be able to do more writing again, but for now work is my highest priority. For this month, any writing at all is going to be a bonus. I haven't written anything in days and I really should lower my AugNo goal to something I've actually got a hope of achieving. I'm not going to do that, but I am going to leave my other two projects completely alone until September. So now, my only requirement for August is to write another... well, too much that I probably can't do.
Okay, since I'm a total spreadsheet nerd I actually do know that my AugNo requirement for the month is another 28.5k, which is 2.8k per day. I enjoy a chase, but that's a pretty big ask at the moment. Well, I'll see what happens, I guess. Whether I succeed or not, nothing about the rest of August is going to be boring.

You write! You milk! Do you cook too? In that case you are perfect!

I can cook if I really have to, but I don't consider myself talented in that department... but thanks for the compliment

LOL! Busy! I grew up with goats. One or two at a time. Not a farm. We now have a chicken and a cat big farmers we are not. I can't imagine that much work. I can't imagine getting much writing in during that, no.

Yeah, the amount of writing varies. This month I've actually only written 15 days out of 26.
Still, at least I'm down to 19.3k to go on Crystals and Moonlight for the month. I'm starting to realise just how much I want to change the stuff I wrote at the beginning, though. Well... maybe, anyway. The other alternative is just to make a bit more out of the fact that these romantic feelings between Jed and Chrissie are totally inappropriate. I mean, she's thirteen and he's somewhere around ten years older than her. Right now I regret making the age gap so huge. If Chrissie was around fifteen or sixteen it would still be inappropriate, but not as much.
In other news, the baby goat count is up to 5: Lexie, Desiree, Narelle and two who haven't named yet but will start with 'C'. I'm thinking one could be Claudia...
No, the other one can't be Chrissie. I already have one of those in the herd.

Hey, I can read this while not signed in - aren't these locked? Anyways... Cassie. And, yeah. 10 years difference is only okay when the 'kid' is older than 13 Even then it's a little strange. Generation gap. There's not much to have in common (my sis and her hubby have this problem).

I think I'll probably do a little light rewriting of the story during September and make Jed think he's supposed to be a responsible older brother rather than a father.
And strangely enough, goat 2 actually ended up being Cassandra...

Funny the name just hit me. It was that or Caroline. Caroline sounded more like a cow to me.... Don't ask. I have no good reason for that. LOL
